ABOUT THE TRAINER
Making a Positive Impact
Mychelle Smith

Getting in shape shouldn’t be a punishment. It’s an amazing and empowering lifestyle decision that anyone can achieve. I believe in setting goals, achieving them, and crushing them in the process. If it doesn't challenge you, it doesn't change you.
Background: I hold three degrees from Texas A&M University: Bachelor's in English; Master's and Doctoral Degrees in Curriculum and Instruction. When I am not in the gym, I am an Assistant Professor of Secondary Education at Stephen F. Austin State University. I've lived in Utah the past two years working for Weber State University helping to prepare future junior high and high school teachers. During that time, I also worked for VASA Fitness as a group fitness instructor teaching Insanity, Les Mills GRIT, HIIT Bootcamp, All Body Weights, Cycle, Core, and the occasional yoga class. Before moving to Utah, I spent 8 years working in the Texas education system as a junior high & high school teacher, dual credit college instructor, and early collegiate high school instructor. I've worked in small schools (Normangee ISD and North Zulch ISD; taught dual credit for Buffalo, Centerville, and Leon ISDs) as well as the large urban district- Ft. Worth ISD. My current fitness hobby is training for and competing in Spartan obstacle course races.
